Ahead of its arrival next month, the all-new Escape has been granted ANCAP’s top safety rating.
The 2020 Ford Escape will hit showrooms next month, and buyers can now be assured the all-new SUV offers some of the highest levels of safety available.
The independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) awarded the Escape a five-star safety rating off data provided by partner Euro NCAP, scoring favourably with adult occupant protection (92 per cent), child occupant protection (89 per cent), vulnerable road user protection (82 per cent), and safety assists (77 per cent).
Ford Australia boss Andrew Birkic commented: “We’re proud that our Driver Assist Technologies not only support the safety of an Escape’s driver and passenger, but other road users”.
Driver Assist Technology is standard across the new Ford Escape range, offering AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, evasive steering assist, and emergency assist.

“Close to full points were scored for its ability to detect and avoid or mitigate collisions with pedestrians and cyclists across a range of daytime and nighttime scenarios through its standard-fit autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system,” an ANCAP spokesperson said in a statement.
The Escape also comes with forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, driver impairment monitor, tyre pressure monitor, emergency assistance, and cruise control with adjustable speed limiter.
Last week, Ford announced it would be offering a virtual test drive program for the Escape, as well as introductory drive-away pricing deals for three model variants ahead of its arrival into dealerships in November.
