Hot off the heels of his Formula Three championship victory, young Aussie driver Oscar Piastri is stepping into an F1 car.
Only a month after winning the Formula Three championship, Australian racing car driver Oscar Piastri has been invited to test in a Renault Formula One car.
The 19-year-old will be one of only three F3 drivers to invited to show off their talents in Renault’s 2018 Formula One car later this month at the Bahrain International Circuit.
“It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to drive an F1 car, so I am very grateful to the team for the opportunity,” Piastri said.
“There will be lots to learn on the day, such as getting used to the power, downforce and braking of the car and it will all be a challenge, but I love tackling new ones.”
Piastri is managed by Australian and former F1 driver Mark Webber, and joined the Renault Sport Academy – a program designed to support and cultivate talented racing drivers – after his title win in the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup Drivers’ Championship.
