The three little letters that have long been synonymous with Peugeot performance could be done and dusted, if new reports from the UK are to be believed .

Peugeot could replace the famous GTi performance sub-brand in favour of a ‘Peugeot Sport Engineered‘ badge, according to a new report from the UK.

A new report from Auto Express claims the upcoming 208 hot-hatch, which could be a pure-electric car, will wear the name debuted on the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered concept in Geneva.

According to the report, the Peugeot executive team isn’t keen to use its famous GTi badge on an electric vehicle.

Debuted on the legendary 205 GTi hot hatch in 1984, the three letters have been applied to some of Peugeot’s best-known, best-driving cars.

The recent 208 and 308 GTi were lauded as something of a return to form for the badge, which has also been slapped on some less-than-appealing vehicles over the years.
