In changing circumstances of the car market that more and more transitions toward the alternative propulsion methods, it is a bit of a curiosity to see a major manufacturer develop a new V-8 engine. Well, that is precisely what is happening behind the closed doors in the BMW Munich headquarters. There, scientists and engineers work tirelessly to develop a new breed of the V-8 engine. Its name is the S68 (a „logical“ continuation after the current S63), and it will, according to the rumors, keep the „hot vee“ design. This basically means that two turbochargers will remain seated in between the cylinder banks. Something that BMW did first with the N63 in 2008.
I hope, however, that BMW will correct its „oversight“ concerning oil cumulation under those turbochargers, and in between the cylinder banks. I am sure almost every N63, and S63 owner knows what I am talking about.
