Chevrolet’s Nomad station wagon may be more popular with collectors, but Ford also produced a 2-door wagon back in the 1950s and the Pick of the Day is one of them, a 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon advertised on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Arlington, Texas.
“This car just screams life in the 1950s and instantly takes you back to a world that was much simpler,” the dealer notes, adding that the vehicle has been a “rolling restoration” that was “enjoyed all along the way up until its completion 3 years ago.”
However, the advertisement continues, “Don’t let this station wagon fool you from its looks though because there is a lot of power lurking beneath that big steel hood!”

That’s because this wagon that looks stock on the outside is a resto-mod with a professionally built 351cid balanced and blueprinted V8 under its hood. The engine, which features Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, electric choke, custom painted Holley valve covers, fresh red wiring, new hoses and a Mallory distributor, is linked to a C6 transmission.
The dealer says the two-tone Seafoam Green and Pearl White paint is “show-quality.”
“The interior of the car is in the same or better condition that when it rolled off an assembly line in ’56,” the dealer adds. The dash is painted in Seafoam Green. The car has S&W gauges, seats are reupholstered in period-correct vinyl with “plush blue fabric.” The wagon also has air conditioning.
“The Ranch Wagon is an ultimate family hauler or road trip classic that showcases all that Ford had to offer in the Customline series of cars,” the dealer adds.
The Texas dealership is offering the car on behalf of its owner, a car collector in Seattle, and is asking $35,900.
