6 August 2010: Chevrolet Corvette to get mid-engined layout

One of Saab’s internal and senior engineering staff has revealed General Motors is planning a mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette for the future.The insider also said the gearbox was specified to handle torque outputs of around 800Nm, which is very close to the current Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1’s figure. Chevrolet did have plans to produce a mid-engined version of the iconic model in 2008 but due to the economic damage of the financial crisis, those plans had to be scrapped.
