Korean brand expands brake recall to include MY19 1.6-litre turbo models, bringing the total affected vehicle count to 6084 units.
Hyundai Australia has extended its recall for turbocharged versions of the Kona crossover, adding 1115 MY19-plated vehicles to a brake recall first issued in January.
“During assembly the vehicles may not have had the front brake tube fitted correctly,” Hyundai says in the recall notice.
“The tube may come in contact with the exhaust system and the braking performance could be compromised. In addition, a fire could result.”
Following the expansion, the total number of affected vehicles now sits at 6084 units across the 2018 and 2019 model years. An updated VIN list is accessible here.
Vehicles affected by this recall were sold from 20 April 2018 through 8 March 2019.
