Capitalism is a scam, who new…. Lol
Wife took her BMW (20000 miles) in to the BMW Dealer for air bag recall. The BMW is her toy, she's had Vettes, Miatas, MGBs. Upon picking up the BMW she was handed an estimate of more than $500.00 to replace the oil filter gasket. She was shown an oil stain on the filter housing and told that oil could get on the belts and cause overheating and ruin the engine. I've always worked on my cars/trucks, My Daddy built Indy cars back in the forties and early fifties. I looked at it, ordered $6.00 worth of parts (gasket) from Ebay. When the parts arrived I took another look. I needed a couple of small sockets I didn't have., got them, took another look. Small oil stain on the front of the filter housing about the size of a fifty cent piece. I cleaned it off with some brake clean and shut the hood or bonnet. Told the wife it was fixed. That was 1500 miles ago, no oil leak or stain since. What does that tell you.
