Series of Instagram posts reveal all-new hyper hatch and four-door coupe sibling ahead of an anticipated public debut at the Frankfurt motor show.

The next-generation Mercedes-AMG A45 and CLA45 have been leaked on social media, giving us an early look at their final designs.

Images posted to Instagram by user Wilco Blok (@wilcoblok) show the new A45 and CLA45 completely undisguised, ahead of their anticipated reveal over the coming months.

We’ve already seen a single rear image of the new CLA45 accidentally posted by Mercedes-Benz on their German configurator in May, but the rest are new pictures that appear to have come from the official press kit.

The AMG A45 seen here appears to be a top-spec ‘S’ variant with all the available extras fitted, including a gloss-black aero package (flics on the front bumper, more prominent front splitter, and a large rear wing), 19-inch black alloys and massive brakes with red painted calipers.

It’s likely the model pictured is an ‘Edition 1’ launch variant, likely to feature a number of cost options as standard and be finished in the matte grey paint you see here.

Rounding out the cosmetic changes compared to the wider A-Class family is the first implementation of AMG’s ‘Panamericana’ front grille, which continues to rollout across flagship versions of the performance line-up.

TheAMG CLA45 (above) follows a similar colour scheme and exterior specification, indicating this is probably also an Edition 1 variant, with the obvious physical differences compared to the hatchback.

Up front the CLA45 looks very much like a ‘mini me’ version of the new AMG GT 63 S 4-Door, and this particular vehicle sports the same flicks on each side of the front bumper as the A45.

In place of the hatchback’s rear wing, however, the CLA45 gets a ducktail-style bootlid spoiler instead.

We already know the AMG A45 and CLA45 will be powered by a new ‘M133’ 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine available in two tunes: a 285kW/480Nm ‘standard’ version, and a 310kW/500Nm ‘S’ tune.

AMG recently touted the free-revving nature of its new four-cylinder performance powertrain, with a 7200rpm redline and high rpms for peak torque (4750-5000rpm) more akin to a naturally-aspirated engine.

The company hasn’t indicated just how quick the new models will be as yet, though given the current A45 dashes from 0-100 in 4.2 seconds, we’re expecting the ‘S’ models to dip under the 4.0-second mark.

All that grunt will be channelled to an all-wheel drive system with ‘Drift Mode’ via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Mercedes-AMG is certainly going all out to take top spot in the hyper hatch stakes.

The company is expected to reveal the new A45 and CLA45 models in the coming months, with a public debut likely scheduled for the Frankfurt motor show in September.

European sales should kick off before the end of the year, with Australian deliveries likely to commence sometime in 2020.
