Sometimes you have to follow your gut. I had issues with not being able to maintain a battery charge and the charge voltage with the engine running was around 14.75 VDC, so I took the car over to AutoZone and they said the battery tested good. So I said screw it and replaced the battery anyway. It was indeed the battery, drove months with no battery issues, until the transmission blew up and I retired the vehicle. I am still scratching my head over why Autozone told me the battery is good. Battery testers are not rocket science, effectively they are an electronic load that test voltage and current, even calibrated a couple in my life. So I don't really know why a device designed to favor AutoZone and the sales of battery gave me a false good batterey, even if it was a bad connection, the device should have picked that up. So perhaps my shot gunning the battery took care of the real culprit like a loose or intermittent connection.
On my 1990 mustang the reason for not charging was a short in the gauge cluster and couldn't energize the exciter wire

Land Rovers look cool, they are luxurious inside but, over time (a couple of years) weird little things that quickly turn into big money things pop up and by then you will need brakes which will cost you thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars to replace. Just don't. Rent 'em: sure. Buy one? Nah.
