Vehicles Affected: Approximately 43,200 model-year 2015-17 Toyota Yaris cars
The Problem: The wire harnesses for the side airbag sensors located within the front doors may crack and corrode, possibly causing the non-deployment or improper deployment of the front seat side airbags and curtain shield airbags, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the wire harness assembly in the front doors, as necessary, for free.
What Owners Should Do: Toyota will begin notifying owners June 10. Owners can call the automaker at 888-270-9371, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
