Revised EV to hit Europe from the end of this year, with Australian timing to be announced.

Hyundai Motor Europe has announced a set of running changes for the Kona Electric, which are set to come online before year’s end.

For the 2020 model year, the Kona Electric will be offered with upgraded 11kW three-phase charger, which allows for “significantly shorter charging times” using AC charge stations or home wall box.

The upgraded EV will also gain Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car service that is accessible via a smartphone app, giving owners the ability to monitor vehicle status and control various remote functions like the climate control or lock/unlock the doors

A standard eCall function will also automatically contact emergency services in the event of an accident that has triggered the airbags.

Hyundai Europe will add the company’s latest 10.25-inch central infotainment system, which has begun to roll out across various Hyundai and Kia models.

Finally, heated outboard rear seats will be available, too.

The European arm has indicated first deliveries will commence at “the end of 2019“.
