We have a 2009 Nissan Sentra that was a previous rental. Purchased it in 2010 with 22k on the clock and now with 130k on the clock the car has been solid. We did, however, had a PPI performed on the vehicle by a Nissan dealership and it checked out just fine. It did need new front brake rotors/pads but pretty simple stuff. If you plan on getting one of those ex-rentals get a PPI performed on it. Good video though. Had no clue about the internal insurance system they use.

Sometimes it's kinda hard to have a mechanic to look at it. The dealers are aware of that tactic and will have u avoid things like that.

the biggest factor I found when i looked into buying cars from rental companies a few times is that they wanted above bluebook for their cars too… i looked at getting a 2011 sonata in 2014 from hertz with 90k miles on it and they wanted $19k … hell i could buy a brand new one at the time for something like 23k or 24k… POOPY DEAL!!!!!

My car was a rental that I bought at 36k miles, now at 101k and not one problem. Scotty I got to disagree with you one this one. You got a good point though you don't know how it was treated but that's any used cars. People these days don't take care of there own vehicle. It will be -20 degrees here in the winter and I see people hop in there car and floor it as they leave in less than 30 seconds. I don't care what any body says, if its that cold you need to let the engine expand and at least warm it up before you "rev up your engines".

A lot of people say “drive it like you stole it” but the saying should go “drive it like you rented it”

I rented a car and checked the oil and the car in general. The guy who was at the rental place made the comment that I didn't need to check the oil because they have mechanics that check out the car. I found out the engine oil was even below the bottom line on the dip stick.

The quality control is bad enough at some of these manufacturers to begin with
