The body shop industry is very profitable since many car owners worry more than necessary about their car’s paint . On the other hand having rust on your car’s body is not good looking and it can fail the regular inspection if it does put in danger the safety on roads – like having heavy rust under the car .
In general having rust on your car , can decrease dramatically the resale value so if you are looking for a great deal you can take advantage of this and get a car for less money since a lot of buyers put the quality of the paint as one of the deal breaker ; therefore reducing the price of vehicles with body damage .
The best is to find the reasonable solution between a perfect/professional paint and heavy rust .
That solution could be repairing it yourself with body filler , and brush paint it & get acceptable results for less than 20 – 50$ max .

I enjoy your mechanical videos on this model, as it’s nice to see specific jobs before I tackle them on my own C230 coupe. Bodywork is something I have experience with, and i would really cut that section out and weld in new metal brother. That section will actually retain water now that you’ve used a plastic filler to cover the rot. It will rust from behind. The only way to stop the spread is to cut out and replace. It sounds like a big deal, but you can get a inexpensive flux core welder and tack weld new metal in yourself. Mig welders and super easy to learn and there are tons of videos of guys online repairing that same area on different cars. Worth looking into if you’re keeping your coupe. ?

Cool – it looks ok man for 1st attempt – my dad was, years ago a panel beater & sprayer, as a kid I used to watch him take hours doing one small part of a car, brought back some memories watching this lol – me on the other, no patience for that kind of work!
