There’s a hot new Audi wagon coming, and it follows neatly in the footsteps of its predecessors with a tastefully pumped-up exterior.
Audi’s next-generation RS6 Avant has stepped for a development drive once again, headlined by a huge pair of exhaust pipes, flared guards and a suitably aggressive face.
Snapped on a rainy day in Europe, the car doesn’t deviate far from the playbook laid out by previous Audi Sport wagons, though is wearing a lot more camouflage than the vehicle spied in June last year. Up front, there’s a gaping grille flanked by edgy air intakes, while the headlights follow in the footsteps of the regular A6.
The arches have been tastefully flared, and there are racier side skirts hidden under that swirly camouflage wrap. Although there’s no guarantee the wheels themselves will make production, the big brakes hiding behind them likely will.
Down back, there’s a diffuser integrated into the rear bumper, wrapped around a pair of drain-pipe sized oval exhaust pipes. The chrome strip linking the taillights is blacked out, and there’s a spoiler atop the boot.
What’ll power the RS6 hasn’t been confirmed, but it’ll likely include a twin-turbocharged V8 engine in some form. The rumour mill is in full swing, with scuttlebutt suggesting it’ll be shared with the just-revealed Bentley Continental GT V8.
