Subaru Viziv Adrenaline Concept

The 2019 Geneva International Motor Show opens in early March, and Subaru has given us a small taste of what to expect with the above teaser image of its Viziv Adrenaline Concept, the latest in a multiyear series of Viziv — from the phrase “vision for innovation,” obviously — concepts the Japanese automaker has used to tip its hand to the future of its products.

The Viziv Adrenaline Concept seems to be a sort of crossover coupe body style that’s something of a trend despite typically lacking the utility of a traditional crossover or the sportiness of a true coupe — but if people are buying them, why not, right?

There’s not a lot to see in the photo, but the Viziv Adrenaline Concept appears to have Subaru’s traditional hexagonal grille, which is joined by LED headlights, muscular haunches and curvier lines than most production Subarus currently possess. To my eyes, the concept looks a bit like Subaru’s take on the Mazda CX-3, but there’s no telling its size from this single image.

Like many of Subaru’s concepts, it’s tough to say what of the Viziv Adrenaline Concept might translate into a production vehicle, but it wouldn’t be surprising for the automaker to add a true subcompact SUV to its lineup to join — if not replace — the Crosstrek.
