Nissan engine stall: A/C clutch seized! DIY repair

My friend’s 2008 Nissan Versa left him stranded earlier this summer in my hometown of Ithaca, NY.

Another shop diagnosed the problem as a seized A/C compressor and quoted a large sum of money and several days wait for the repair.
