Vehicles Affected: Approximately 14,800 model-year 2018-19 Mitsubishi Outlander SUVs equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels
The Problem: The certification label lists an incorrect rear-wheel rim size, which can cause the operator to replace the rim with an incorrect rim size, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Mitsubishi will will notify owners and send them a corrected certification label. Owners can also choose to have the label replaced by a dealer. Both repairs are free.
What Owners Should Do: Mitsubishi will begin notifying owners Sept. 26. Owners can call the automaker at 888-648-7820, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
