There is an old sayin’, “Some times you get the bear and sometimes the bear get’s you.” In the case ogf this van the bear got the owner. He and a friend attempted to DIY their head gaskets on this 2004 Honda Odyssey and unfortunately the crank gear has two marks on. Some of you know where I am going with this…. -Enjoy!

Noobs again. When I replaced my head gasket I made sure I was on Top dead Center. I also pulled the cam and pistons to check for warn. I found the timing belt tentioner was gone but wouldn't stop the engine running. Cam also had some rough areas. The car lasted another 10,000 miles till the rings went

the dot on the crank pulley caused this, honest mistake.

Three main lessons learned: 1) Clearly mark the timing marks BEFORE you take off the old timing belt. 2) After the change: Turn the engine manually a couple of times, and verify that the timing marks line up again, before cranking it. 3) Dont touch the timing belt unless you have the time and skill. What a scary video. You are not swearing?? – I would..

The owner was probably sitting around watching the football game one weekend with his buddies drinking beer, and happened to mention his Honda needed a new head gasket and the shop wanted 800 dollars to fix it, then the one buddy said, man, your getting ripped off! we could put one of those on in a hour or so, easy. Buy me a 12 pack and I will put it on for you.

The Honda Odyssey is known to have bad transmission issues and is not worth buying.
