Runout model gets a price cut ahead of facelifted car’s arrival

Jeep has announced drive-away pricing for the superseded MY17 and MY18 Cherokee, as it prepares to introduce the facelifted 2019 Cherokee in October.

The range kicks off with the Sport, priced from $32,450 drive-away – down from $35,950 before on-roads. Power comes from a 2.4-litre petrol engine making 130kW and 229Nm, mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. A set of 17-inch alloy wheels, a 5.0-inch touchscreen and a rear-view camera are all standard.

Jumping to the Longitude, with its 3.2-litre V6 and all-wheel drive system, bumps the drive-away price to $37,450 instead of the previous $41,450 before on-roads. It gains a power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights and an auto-dimming rear mirror over the Sport, along with the more powerful engine.

Moving to the Limited will set you back $43,450 drive-away rather than $45,950 before on-roads, while the range-topping Trailhawk (pictured) is now going for $48,450 drive-away instead of $49,950 before on-roads. The former rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, and offers an 8.4-inch touchscreen in place of the 5.0-inch setup on lower-end cars. You also get satellite navigation, heated seats, and bi-xenon headlights.

The Trailhawk sets itself apart by being ‘Trail Rated’, thanks to its proper four-wheel drive system, off-road suspension, two-speed transfer case, rear locking differential and tougher body panels front and rear.

When it comes to the MY18 Cherokee, the company is offering prices between $35,450 and $50,450 drive-away.

The MY17/18 Cherokee will be replaced by the 2019 model in October. It has a new look, with a more conventional headlight arrangement the major change. The old powertrains have carried over to the new car, which also maintains the same model structure. Full pricing and specs details were revealed last week.
